Technical Designer
Taylor Stitch
About Taylor Stitch
Taylor Stitch is a men’s lifestyle brand founded in 2008 and headquartered in San Francisco, California. We design, produce, and sell timeless, high-quality, responsibly built clothing and accessories and incorporate customer feedback through every phase of our operation. We've made it our mission to challenge the way the clothing industry operates by improving the way we source, the way we sew, and the way we sell. We're always striving for the best way to craft products that will stand the test of time.
The Role
We’re looking for a Technical Menswear Designer who’s passionate about fit, construction, and precision. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring our garments meet the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship from concept to final production.
This is a hands-on, technical role suited for someone who thrives on details, deadlines, and creative problem-solving. You’ll partner closely with design, product development, and our global factory network to make sure every Taylor Stitch garment fits and functions exactly as it should.
We'd love to find someone based in the San Francisco Bay Area who would be able come in for fittings, sample handling, and occasional in-person meetings.
What You’ll Do
-
Contribute to the technical development of assigned menswear categories, maintaining fit consistency, product quality, and on-time execution.
-
Create detailed tech packs using Backbone PLM and Adobe Creative Suite — including specs, BOMs, graded measurements, and construction details.
-
Lead fit sessions (in-person and virtual), document fit comments, and partner with factories to deliver actionable revisions.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Merchandising, and Production teams to troubleshoot technical challenges and streamline development.
-
Maintain organized fit libraries, digital patterns, and sample tracking logs.
-
Manage multiple seasonal calendars and sample rounds with precision and clarity.
-
Communicate clearly and proactively with overseas partners to keep product development running smoothly.
Who You Are
-
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Design, Fashion Design, or related field.
-
5+ years of technical design experience in menswear, with a strong understanding of fit across outerwear, knits, wovens, and bottoms.
-
Skilled in pattern making, grading, and garment construction analysis.
-
Proficient in Adobe CS, Google Sheets/Docs, and ideally Backbone PLM, Asana, Gerber/Accumark, and Slack.
-
Experienced working with domestic and international factories.
-
Exceptionally organized, analytical, and calm under pressure — able to juggle multiple priorities without missing a stitch.
-
Strong communicator who brings a solutions-oriented mindset to every challenge.
Physical & Work Environment
-
Must have a dedicated home workspace to receive and manage sample shipments.
-
Ideally located in the San Francisco Bay Area for fittings and in-person collaboration.
Must be eligible to work in the United States
-
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (samples, mannequins, etc.).
