Summary

The Manager will be the leader of the North America Accounting Team and a member of the broader Corporate Controller’s group. This person will report to the Senior Director of Global Accounting Shared Services. The role will have responsibility for maintaining the general ledger and accounting records for Timex Group’s US and Canadian companies. The role encompasses hands-on accounting work and the management of a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the North America Accounting Group (Currently a team of 3 accountants)
    • Hands-on responsibilities for certain GL accounting in addition to team leadership.
    • Will help achieve the vision of a fully documented process that is continually improved to drive timeliness, accuracy, customer satisfaction, at an optimal cost.
  • General Accounting
    • Revenue Accounting (Including accruals in gross to net revenue)
    • Intercompany Accounting
    • General Accounting
    • Payroll Accounting
    • Fixed Asset Accounting
    • *** Inventory, Cost Accounting, AP, and AR are separately managed
  • Ensures proper account reconciliations. (Utilizing FloQast)
  • Ensure proper use of master data and multidimensionality in managing journal entities so reporting is accurate.
  • Coordinates the monthly financial close process for North America, including the GL close and analytics.
  • Assist with financial reporting requirements and tax filing requirements.
  • Support the annual financial audit.
  • Government Reporting (US Gov’t surveys)
  • Assist with worldwide company projects from a finance/accounting perspective.
    • Systems upgrades and enhancements. (Oracle convergence project in process)
    • Standardization of processes across global shared service centers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA, MS Degree a definite plus)
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting work experience, (preferably in a mid-size, multi-location organization)
    • Including project and people management
  • Ability to drive process improvements while working with an early version of Oracle technology and prepare processes for new technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business cycles – Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, Fixed Assets
  • Experience working with multidimensional data sets for internal management reporting. (e.g., business units, regions, responsibility, etc.)
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage accounting professionals with process excellence mindset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Experience with Oracle (or equivalent) ERP system
  • Conscientious attention to detail and genuine team focused attitude
