The Assistant Store Manager, Made-to-Measure Lead plays a dual role in driving overall store performance while owning and growing the in-store custom clothing business. This leader supports daily operations, develops the sales team, and delivers exceptional customer experiences—while serving as the in-store expert for made-to-measure.

This role blends operational leadership with specialized menswear expertise. The ideal candidate is both a strong retail leader and a trusted style advisor who can build lasting client relationships, drive repeat business, and elevate the in-store experience through personalized service.

What You’ll Do

Drive Sales Performance & Client Experience

  • Lead a relationship-driven sales culture focused on personalized service
  • Build, manage, and grow a strong client book with a focus on repeat and custom business
  • Deliver exceptional in-store and omnichannel experiences aligned with brand standards

Lead Made-to-Measure Business Growth

  • Own and scale the made-to-measure program within the store
  • Deliver best-in-class consultations, fittings, and styling guidance
  • Execute a strategic clienteling approach to expand the custom business
  • Ensure a seamless experience from initial consultation through final delivery

Team Leadership & Development

  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of store associates
  • Provide ongoing coaching to elevate sales, product knowledge, and clienteling skills
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team environment
  • Motivate the team to achieve sales goals and deliver exceptional service

Operational Excellence & Store Standards

  • Support daily store operations including opening/closing and cash management
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, stockroom organization, and merchandising standards
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and brand-aligned store environment

Client Experience & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a key point of contact for customer concerns and resolution
  • Partner with e-commerce and corporate teams to ensure seamless omnichannel service
  • Provide feedback to improve store processes and the made-to-measure program

Made-to-Measure Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end custom appointments: consultation, measurement, fitting, and delivery
  • Guide clients through fabric selection, fit, and customization options
  • Accurately process and manage custom orders with strong attention to detail
  • Maintain deep knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, and seasonal offerings
  • Represent the brand at off-site fittings and events as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous retail sales experience required; leadership experience preferred
  • Strong background in menswear, tailoring, or made-to-measure/custom clothing
  • Deep understanding of suiting, shirting, and fit principles
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a client book
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, especially in measurements and order accuracy
  • Self-motivated, proactive leader with a team-first mindset
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in fashion or retail a plus
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible retail hours

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
  • Comfortable lifting up to 30 lbs and using ladders
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform hands-on tasks including garment measuring
  • Strong visual acuity for fabric inspection and precision work
  • Work primarily in a retail store environment with occasional stockroom duties and off-site events
