We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory and Cost Accountant to help ensure the financial accuracy behind the products we proudly create. Reporting to the Controller, the Inventory and Cost Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory and COGS records to support operations, reporting, and strategic decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across teams, digging into details, and understanding the financial engine behind a product-based business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and reconcile inventory records across manufacturing and on-site distribution operations
2. Monitor inventory movements, transfers, adjustments, and scrap to ensure timely and accurate recording
3. Perform month-end closing tasks related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS)
4. Analyze inventory variances and cost fluctuations; investigate and resolve discrepancies
5. Support the development and maintenance of standard costs for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
6. Assist with inventory cycle counts and year-end physical inventory
7. Partner with operations, production, and procurement teams to improve inventory accuracy and cost controls
8. Prepare journal entries and inventory-related reporting for the accounting team
9. Recommend and help implement process improvements related to inventory and cost accounting
10. Ensure accuracy of inventory reporting within ERP system (NetSuite)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of inventory accounting principles and cost of goods sold
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable navigating ERP systems (NetSuite experience is a plus)
- High attention to detail with strong reconciliation and analysis skills
- Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator
- Curious, process-oriented, and eager to grow in an operations-driven accounting role
