This role is key to the development and execution of our freight/transportation strategy, with an emphasis on optimizing processes, reducing transportation costs, and managing vendor relationships. The Senior Manager will oversee both inbound and outbound transportation, including parcel and LTL (Less Than Truckload) operations. This position is ideal for a results-driven leader with a deep understanding of logistics operations and the ability to create scalable solutions in a fast-paced, expanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement best practices for transportation and logistics processes, continuously improving service levels while driving cost savings across inbound and outbound operations.
  • Cost Reduction: Proactively analyze transportation spend to identify opportunities for cost savings, such as rate negotiation, route optimization, or mode shifts (parcel, LTL, FTL). Ensure budget adherence while maintaining service excellence.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party carriers and freight vendors (parcel, LTL, etc.), ensuring contracts are competitive, performance standards are met, and any service issues are promptly resolved. Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and negotiations.
  • Inbound & Outbound Operations: Oversee all inbound and outbound transportation activities, ensuring seamless and efficient movement of goods across the supply chain. This includes working closely with suppliers, warehouses, and internal teams to optimize inventory flow.
  • Problem Solving: Conduct root cause analyses and perform corrective actions on all shipping complaints, including implementing solutions to mitigate related issues in the future.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all transportation activities comply with relevant regulations, including transportation safety, sustainability practices, and customs requirements. Proactively manage risks and implement mitigation strategies where necessary.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Leverage data to track KPIs, monitor transportation performance, and provide insights to senior leadership. Prepare regular reports on transportation spend, service levels, and improvement initiatives.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead a small team of transportation specialists and logistics coordinators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support in day-to-day operations.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with operations, sales, procurement, and customer service teams to ensure transportation needs are met and that strategies align with broader business goals.
Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or relevant certifications are a plus).
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 4 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
    • Experience in Consumer Package Goods strongly preferred
  • Expertise:

    • Track record of transforming and improving key transportation metrics year over year.
    • Experience in successfully negotiating carrier contract costs with primary and secondary carriers.
    • Experience with both domestic and international freight management is highly preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
