The Merchandise Planner will develop foundational skills for a future career in planning while contributing to in-season forecasting, pre-season inventory buying, and inventory stock management. Responsibilities include analyzing data trends and inventory flow to maximize sales potential and minimize risks.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Pre-Season Planning:

· Collaborate with Merchandising on seasonal hindsight reports to provide actionable insights for future performance improvement.

· Partner with the Planning & Inventory Manager to review historical performance and recommend future actions.

· Partner with Merchandising to model SKU-level forecasts and color/size breakouts.

In-season forecasting:

· Generate and analyze key performance indicator reports. Provide analysis of sales and inventory data to identify risks and opportunities.

· Work with the Planning Manager to develop and execute markdown strategies to maximize gross margin and align with financial and inventory objectives.

· Partner with the Planning Manager to build and manage ladder plans for replenishment styles

· Manage sales and stock replenishment needs, ensuring alignment with inventory objectives.

Inventory Management:

· Drive PO creation, revisions, and cancellations based on in-season trends and inventory position.

· Partner with vendors to confirm ship windows, resolve late or incomplete deliveries, and maintain up-to-date inbound visibility.

· Track replenishment needs, maintaining a continuous view of core and carryover inventory.

· Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to align on stock flow, fulfillment timing, and vendor compliance expectations.

Other Responsibilities:

· Foster positive, collaborative, and strategic partnerships with cross-organizational business partners.

· Contribute to continuous improvement processes, including systems, processes, and products.

· Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Merchandising, or related field.

· 3-5 years of experience in retail planning, inventory management, or allocation (preferably in apparel, home, or gift industries).

· Experience working with purchase order systems and vendor communications.

· Familiarity with open-to-buy planning and forecasting methodologies.

· Ability to thrive in a creative, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment.
