About This Position:
We are seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial Director, Digital Product Management to lead digital portfolio management and product innovation across our Decorative Finishes (DF) brands. This role is the connective tissue between customer insight, product strategy, and cross-functional execution—with a strong emphasis on New Product Development (NPD), Digital Merchandising, and Voice of the Customer (VOC) methodologies.
This individual will be responsible for the digital product strategy and assortment across the Decorative Finishes business unit, which consists of seven category-leading Ecommerce brands: Trueform Concrete, American Tin Ceilings, Reggio Registers, Baseboarders, Vent Covers Unlimited, Madelyn Carter, and Cast and Bevel.
The ideal candidate is self-directed, highly collaborative, and thrives in a high-autonomy, high-accountability environment. They must bring a strong understanding of digital retail ecosystems to help scale design-driven building material brands via omnichannel innovation and Ecommerce excellence.
- Location: 100% Remote. (Required to work from any location within the USA.)
- Reports to: General Manager.
- Base Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000 (experience & interview performance will determine actual number within the range).
- Annual Discretionary Bonus: eligible for 20% of base salary.
What You’ll Do:
Portfolio Ownership
- Manage and optimize the active SKU portfolio across all brands.
- Identify gaps and opportunities aligned to brand positioning and commercial needs, including online merchandising dynamics and consumer browsing behavior.
New Product Development (NPD)
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle using a structured VOC process, competitive benchmarking, and trend forecasting.
- Ensure product data integrity and content readiness across DTC and marketplace platforms.
Digital Merchandising & Ecommerce
- Drive product performance on digital shelves by partnering with Ecommerce, DTC, and marketplace teams to optimize content, categorization, SEO, and conversion.
- Prioritize features and attributes that perform well in Shopify, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Wayfair and similar environments.
- Leverage platform analytics to inform product decisions and drive ongoing enhancements.
Voice of the Customer (VOC)
- Implement systems to synthesize multi-channel customer insights, including DTC reviews, trade pro feedback, and digital behavior analytics.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Working closely with:
- Brand & Merchandising to ensure visual and verbal identity coherence across digital channels.
- Manufacturing & Ops for feasibility and sourcing alignment.
- Finance & Supply Chain for profitability modeling and logistical readiness.
Strategic Benchmarking
- Continuously monitor market trends and competitors (including on major Ecommerce platforms) to inform product positioning, packaging, and pricing.
Business Case Development
- Lead business case development for new products and line extensions—including channel-specific ROI assumptions.
What We’re Looking For:
Must-haves:
- 8+ years of digital experience in product management, product merchandising, or product development.
- Proven success launching and managing own-brand products in home improvement, building materials, or design-driven categories.
- Experience collaborating across Shopify and Ecommerce marketplaces (Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Wayfair, etc.).
- Track record of optimizing product performance in online channels, including SEO, PDP conversion, and digital packaging.
- Adept at balancing creative design decisions with supply chain and manufacturing realities.
Preferred:
- Experience working with PIMs, DAMs, and other Ecommerce tech stacks.
- Past roles in startup, small business, or corporate innovation environments.
- Background in direct-to-consumer (DTC) strategy or omnichannel merchandising.
